Catching My Breath

So, the past few weeks have been a whirlwind of excitement and of things that I need to get done. Honestly it seems to be my process to work supper hard to get everything done and then when a deadline approaches I realize that while I may have gotten a bunch of stuff done, I still have a ton of stuff to do. That's when I go bonkers, you know staying up late, hiding in my studio, forgetting to eat. (I can get really focused) Everything I can do to get everything all finished up.  Let's just say I'm well into the going bonkers stage and my studio looks like a hurricane hit it. Any who, I'm not complaining I love what I do.

Also since I enjoy sharing the cakes I make I've got two that I've made in the past few weeks for different things.

Recently I held a little focus group for some of whats coming up for Celebrated Lady in Spring. I was so nervous about showing people what I had been working on that I think all that nervous energy came out in the form of food. Here I made a strawberry cake with cream cheese icing (yes the cake is pink on the inside), strawberry and vanilla white chocolate marshmallow pops, chocolate coated cookies and three different types of twist sandwiches chicken salad, tuna&chives, and peanut butter and jelly. Needless to say we had a lot of fun and the ladies were so wonderful. I received lots of very useful suggestions and information. It was such a great feeling having women who I highly respect give me their honest opinions about my work.

This cake I made for my friends son who was turning two and having a Lion King themed party. It was so much fun. It's a yellow cake with butter cream icing. The grass is white chocolate and the little rocks are Carmel candies.

to make the log and grubs I chocolate coated cookies together and then used sprinkles for the grubs, I also made a little one out of chocolate sitting on the log.
