My Birthday in Candyland

I'll start this off by saying that I have always wanted to make a Candyland theme cake. It was my favorite game as a kid and many nights I would rope my Mama into playing game after game.

Well this year for my birthday, which was this past weekend, I made myself a Candyland Cake!

It was quite fun designing how I was going to decorate the cake. I knew I didn't want to make a big cake. I made just a little strawberry cake, two five inch rounds to make two tiers. This then led me to create a cake around my favorite Candyland character... Princess Lolly.

I always thought her outfit and pose were so cute!

I tried to recreate what her area looked like on the original game board that I had when I was a kid. I found a picture online, printed it on photo paper, cut her out, and taped her to a lollipop stick. Then the fun part came, which was adding all the lolly pops.

Just a not in the case for those who wonder,

The different kinds of candy I used were,

an assortment of different kinds of lollipops

Malted milk balls for the border

rock candy smashed off it's stick to make the purple crystals on the top of the cake.

I had so much fun with this, it was a great birthday and I think it came out pretty good ^_^

Stop by next week to see where my Mama and I took an adventure to for my birthday. I just have so  much to share to have included it with this post.  See ya next week!
