Summer Rain View

I have to be honest, at the beginning of today, I really didn't know what I wanted to share.

This week has been happily uneventful around here. Just one of those nice calm summer weeks and I have to say I've been spending quite a bit of time watching the Olympics.

August has always been a favorite month of mine. Besides being my birthday month it is that perfect transition between Summer and Fall. There's just a great feeling that comes with August. A happy end to a season paving the way for a new one.

The view from my studio can be both inspiring and at times rather distracting. Today is a perfect example of just that. I look out my window and see a beautiful picture that inspires me to just create, but then I catch myself, drawn into the view... spending time just gazing out at nature.

The view from my studio...

I'm not usually a fan of rainy days, the clouds and overall gray light usually just put me in a funk... I make no attempt to hide that I am a sunshine type of person. There is one exception though and that is a cool summer rain. The type of rain that usually comes as a much needed relief real releasing the heavy air of a summer heat wave.

This morning I woke up to the soft rumble of thunder and a light rain outside. Days like this are in their own way perfect because you can open the windows and just listen to the rain on the roof as the gentle rumbling sounds.

After the rain stops is the best part though. Everything is still. You can hear the occasional drip drop off the leaves. The birds are singing and you can here the soft chirping of unseen insects. This is summer...
